Sandblasting (micro-etching) tooth structure or restorative materials can significantly improve the bond strengths that can be achieved and may even make or break some critical types of case like the Bonded Bridge. In this 24 minute presentation, Dr Mandikos will explain the sandblasting technique, its clinical application, and the materials and instruments you need. 

Few things are as frustrating as placing a beautiful new crown only to have your patient return a few days later, complaining that they cannot chew on it due to sensitivity. In this 16 minute presentation, Dr Mandikos will explain the common reasons for post-operative sensitivity with a newly placed crown, and provide tips on how to avoid it. 

So many adhesives, so many cements ! 

Today we are presented with so many choices for cementing Crowns, Onlays and Veneers. Is there one cement that can be used for all applications ? Or are different cements used (needed?) for different types of crowns ?

In this 15 minute presentation, Dr Mandikos will provide a quick summary of the different cements available and their best clinical applications. He will also answer the question: "is there one cement that can do everything ?"

Not all composite systems can match natural teeth !

This 1hr 19min presentation will explain how modern composites can achieve perfect shade matches with natural teeth, by explaining the relevant colour theory, and then teaching which systems are anatomically based and which are not. The lecture will conclude with Hints and Tips to help the Clinician achieve perfect colour matches, everytime. 

Many clinicians fear that bonding to Zirconia is not possible, or at best, that it is unpredictable. In this 15 minute lecture, Dr Mandikos will summarise the consensus position and current evidence for bonding to Zirconia, and demonstrate, step-by-step, how to do it clinically.

The congenitally missing maxillary lateral incisors creates a challenging clinical situation to treat. An aesthetic, functional and conservative treatment is required, usually in a very young patient. Should treatment thus be with an implant ? a bridge ? or with canine substitution ?

In this presentation, Dr Michael Mandikos will address the various clinical parameters that may help to make the decision, as well as provide guidelines for proceeding along either of the replacement options of Canine Substitution, or the use of Bonded Bridges.

Speech Pathologist, Tia Pearce, explains the causes of and treatment for Tongue Thrust, which is so often responsible for causing tooth displacement in children that subsequently needs to be treated by Orthodontics. As Tia describes, the condition can be detected early and treatment is simple and effective and may even avoid the need for Orthodontics, if treated early.

In the second part of the interview, Dr Mandikos asks Tia about her views on Tongue Tie in infants and if, how and when it should be treated. Watch the interview to hear what she has to say about this often controversial topic !

The Resin Bonded Bridge is a very conservative and relatively simple alternative to conventional fixed bridgework. This 49 minute presentation covers the history of these bridges and how they evolved from a more complex metal-framed design, to the more modern and simpler Zirconia-based construction.
